Forget Me Not Flower – Free Crochet Pattern and Video Tutorial

This flower was designed to go on my Forget Me Not Beanie which will be my next pattern to be published on this blog. It can go on any crocheted item of your choice. I had been thinking of designing my own flower for a couple of weeks before I came up with this design. I really hope your enjoy it, it is such a lovely flower to embellish on any crochet project.   • 9 to 10 yards of worsted medium 4 yarn ( I used Red Heart Super Saver in Turqua)
  • Size USH8/5.00 MM crochet hook
  • optional button


st/sts- stitch/stitches

sl st- slip stitch

ch- chain

sc- single crochet

hdc- half double crochet

dc- double crochet

edc- extended double crochet (yarn over, insert hook into st, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through one loop, yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops)

p- picot (ch 3, sl st into top of last st made)


  • (Optional) If you leave enough of a starting tail you can use it to sew a button to your flower.  Also leave a long enough ending tail to sew your flower onto your crocheted item.

Round 1- ch 2, hdc 10 sts into first ch, sl st to join [10 hdc sts]

Round 2- ch 8, sl st into next st, * sl st into next st, ch 8, sl st into next st * repeat from * to * 3 times, sl st into first ch 8 space [40 ch sts]

Round 3- (now you are making the 5 petals of the flower) (working in the ch 8 space you just slip stitched into) ch 1, sc, hdc, dc, edc 3 sts, p, edc 2 sts, dc, hdc, sc * (continue directly into the next ch 8 space) sc, hdc, dc, edc 3 sts, p, edc 2 sts, dc, hdc, sc * repeat from to * 3 times, sl st to join, end off yarn and weave in the end [10 sc sts, 10 hdc sts, 10 dc sts, 25 edc sts, 5 p sts]

Now that you have finished your beautiful Forget Me Not Flower add it to any crochet piece of your choice! It looks especially good on hats, I would even suggest adding this flower to hair clips and hair barrettes 🙂
