This Christmas plant cozy looks great paired with a poinsettia.

Supplies:

  • Caron Simply Soft medium weight
    • Off White
    • Heather Grey
    • Pistachio
    • Dark Sage
  • 4.5mm hook
  • 3.75mm hook
  • Stitch Marker

Stitches:

MC – Magic Circle

SS – Slip Stitch

CH – Chain

DC – Double Crochet

DecDC – Decrease Double Crochet

Notes:

When working the base pattern alternates increase stitches at end or beginning of round, this creates a more circular shape and less hexagon shape.

Base: 

Base is worked in a spiral do not SS instead use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.  In Dark Sage MC, CH1

Round 1 – 8DC in ring. (8DC)

Round 2 – 2DC in each stitch. (16DC)

Round 3 – *2DC in stitch, 1DC in next stitch,* repeat to end. (24DC)

Round 4 – *1DC in next 2 stitches, 2DC in next stitch,* repeat to end. (32DC)

Round 5 – *2DC in stitch, 1DC in next 3 stitches,* repeat to end. (40DC)

Round 6 – *1DC in next 4 stitches, 2DC in next stitch,* repeat to end. (48DC)

Round 7 – *2DC in stitch, 1DC in next 5 stitches,* repeat to end. Fasten off and weave in ends. (56 DC)

Base should be blocked, this helps secure the circular shape so it does not become deformed.

Sides: 

Sides are worked in rows, in Dark Sage CH15.

Row 1 – DC in 2nd CH from hook.  DC in each CH until end, turn. (14DC)

Row 2 – CH1, DC in each stitch until end, turn. (14DC)

Rows 3-14 – Repeat row 2.

Row 15 – 1DecDC in first 2 stitches, 1DC in the next 10 stitches, 1DecDC in last two stitches, turn. (12DC)

Row 16 – 1DecDC in first 2 stitches, 1DC in the next 8 stitches, 1DecDC in last two stitches, turn. (10DC)

Row 17 – 1DecDC in first 2 stitches, 1DC in the next 6 stitches, 1DecDC in last two stitches, turn. (8DC)

Row 18 – 1DecDC in first 2 stitches, 1DC in the next 4 stitches, 1DecDC in last two stitches, turn. (6DC)

Row 19 – 1DecDC in first 2 stitches, 1DC in the next 2 stitches, 1DecDC in last two stitches, turn. (4DC)

Row 15 – 1DecDC in first 2 stitches, 1DC in the next 8 stitches, 1DecDC in last two stitches, turn. (10DC)

Row 16 – 1DecDC in first 2 stitches, 1DC in the next 6 stitches, 1DecDC in last two stitches, turn. (8DC)

Row 17 – 1DecDC in first 2 stitches, 1DC in the next 4 stitches, 1DecDC in last two stitches, turn. (6DC)

Assembling:

To assemble the side panels lay a white panel on top of a green panel.  Position and pin in place. SS or surface stitch in Pistachio up each side of the white panel being careful to only hook the top loop of the green fabric to hide the SS from the other side.

Attache the sides to the base by working a reverse SC or a regular SC stitch through the base of the side panels and the round base.  Each Panel should have 14 SC, you will only capture the green fabric and the base insert hook through both then pull up a loop and finish your SC stitch.

SC up each panel making sure to incorporate both panels unle you reach the decreased rows, connecting all four panels.  Finally finish off with a SC around the entire rim, insert your plant and your done.
