Flower Picking Basket

by: funkifybers.com

Collecting flowers for a summer bouquet can be fun and rewarding, here’s a funky way to collect those pretty blooms.  This flower gathering basket is made of Sisal Twisted rope with natural fibers, and cotton yarn giving it that natural basket-ey look.  The rope provides a strong foundation and the cotton holds it all together nicely.  This basket uses simple single crochet stitches that form a circular pattern, with a few tweaks to make the handles.  I hope you too, gather summer’s bounty in one of these!

Round 23: Complete a Twisted SC in each stitch around.  Prior to the last stitch, cut the rope tip where it meets the first stitch of the round. SS  to beginning stitch, fasten off and weave in ends.  (126SC)

Note: when you reach the handle spaces you will need to crochet in the stitch that joined the handle to round 22 as well as the stitch in round 22.  Because you crocheted over the rope when attaching handles you should still be able to pick up the stitch.  This secures the handles.
