Basic Shapes Series – Intro
When designing patterns or working patterns, its useful to know how to make basic shapes in crochet. Being able to master the basic shapes are simple and a good foundation to understanding crochet. Almost all designs are compromised of basic shapes, they make big statements on their own and are the base of most patterns.
In this series I’m going to go through each shape, show you how to make them in any size, and share with you patterns these shapes are used in. This series will last throughout the year 2017-2018, broken down into individual posts so you can view what applies to you.

The first shape in this series is the solid square, this shape is great for blankets, rugs, bags, clothes, pixel crochet, you name it, if it needs a square then this is it.
Below are a few patterns on that contain the square and half square shapes:
Ahh the crochet circle, its one of my favorites and very useful too. If you like making appliqués it’s a good base, hats, amigurumi, and more also use this basic shape. This post covers it all including how to crochet them in different stitches, plus a video!
